Examination after major blaze at Co Mayo farm machinery plant
A number of fire units spent several hours tackling a major fire in County Mayo last night.
The blaze at McHale’s farm machinery plant in Ballinrobe raged for over four hours, after taking hold at about 5.30pm yesterday evening.
The building was evacuated out and no-one was injured. However, it is understood considerable damage was caused to the plant.
Mayo Fine Gael Deputy John O’Mahony accompanied the Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney on a visit to the scene of the fire last night. He spoke to Midwest Radio:
The clean up operation will begin later today after officers examine the scene in an attempt to find out how it started.
Meanwhile, Main Street in Ballinakill Co Laois is closed this morning due to a fire at a derelict building.
Fire crews are still at the scene. No injures have been reported.
