CB-CID books DMK Cuddalore MP for murder; search on to nab him
Chennai: 6 including a DMK MP was booked in connection with the death of labourer in a cashew processing unit in the Cuddalore district.
Govindarasu, a labourer who was working in a cashew nut processing unit belonging to DMK MP T.V.R.S Ramesh was found mysteriously dead inside the unit on September 19th and employees of the unit informed Govindarasu’s family that he has passed away.
Suspecting foul play, family members filed a complaint with Kadampuliyur Police station and an FIR was filed under section Cr.Pc 174 initially.
Later the case was transferred to CB-CID by the Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu as the family members continued to stage protests demanding action against the people involved and moved a petition in the Madras High Court seeking CBI enquiry into the incident.
Though the FIR initially stated it as mysterious death, now CB-CID which is investigating the case has registered an FIR for murder and has arrested 5 individuals in connection with the incident today.
All the 6 have been booked under 6 sections including IPC Sec 302, Sec 201, Sec 149,Sec 120b,Sec147 and Sec 148. The CB-CID is now on the lookout for the DMK Cuddalore MP Ramesh as he remains untraceable.
Police said that Govindrasu who was working in the cashew processing unit for more than 7 years was assaulted by the employees of the unit alleging that he stole 7 kgs of Cashew nut from the unit.
DMK President MK Stalin held a meeting with Party’s Lok Sabha leader T.R Baalu, Cuddalore district secretary MRK Pannerselvam and other senior leaders regarding the incident at party headquarters Anna Arivalyam.
