Finance Ministry wants nominees for new committee

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Finance and Planning is currently seeking nominees to serve on its newly constituted Specialist Sector Committees (SSC), which is part of the National Contracts Commission (NCC).

The SSC will now be categorised into: insurance; general and consulting services; works; goods; and information and communication technology.

According to the Ministry’s website, sector committees were established to assist the NCC in evaluating recommendations for the award of government contracts in a timely manner. They are extensions or sub-sets of the NCC.

Each sector committee has public sector agencies that are assigned to it. The agencies are required to submit their recommendations to their respective committee for the award of contracts, which are valued at J$15 million or more.
